Competition for projects for the construction of two residential blocks of 34 social housing units

An airtight volume is proposed crossed by a cut that generates a CRACK: a longitudinal axis of circulation and cross-ventilation east-west on each floor, through which all the circulations of both access to the building and to the 34 homes are generated.
On the ground floor, a passing lobby connects the street access with the park, and gives access to two adapted homes, the facilities rooms and a multipurpose room for residents. In the typical floors, the access to the houses is through a space of interior-exterior transition, that mitigates the climatic conditions, working like independent terrace in summer, and like gallery in winter, prolongation of the living room.
The humid rooms in the center of the building facilitate the passage of the facilities and take advantage of the ventilation of the transition spaces. This aggregation frees up the perimeter of the floor for bedrooms and living rooms that enjoy cross ventilation, offering redistribution flexibility to future users.
The main idea of the facade was to emphasize the great fissure of all the set, looking for the contrast in its materiality: A monolithic skin of vertical perforated modular panels, that are transformed into shutters when they appear openings, is interrupted when it arrives at the fissure vertical, where warmer materials appear.
