Nursing home in L’Hospitalet de l’Infant
Competition for the construction of a new nursing home
– THE EQUIPMENT ISLAND
With the aim of strengthening the island of facilities and organizing it around a new square, the residence will be the first building to mark a trend in planning. The current facilities are not related to each other and the accesses are on the perimeter roads, making the central space residual. This equipment will be the first to reverse the situation.
The facility will be one of the future gateways to the island, related to the square and the car park. A porch on the east façade will accompany this direction of travel. The main access leads to the square and the services access to the car park.
– ACP SYSTEM
Design based on a Person-Centered Assistance (ACP) system, which aims to give greater dignity to the elderly and therefore, proposes the architectural model “your home” where priority is given: autonomy , participation, integrity, individuality and intimacy, social integration, independence and well-being, and continuity of care.
– FUNCTIONAL PROGRAM
They are divided into two cohabitation units of 20 people, one on each floor, with its services, common areas and a terrace to the south. All rooms have a balcony. It seeks to maximize outdoor views to improve the well-being of residents.
On the ground floor are the service and coexistence spaces; oriented to the north and aligned with a landscaped controlled outdoor space, protected from the Mestral by trees.
– MATERIALITY
Mediterranean building, made of sincere materials, soft and bright colors, with materials of local origin such as baked ceramics or lime plasters. The ecological footprint will be considered and priority will be given to recyclable and recycled materials.
The common spaces will be personalized with home decor to create a cozy atmosphere with warm touch materials and different colors to facilitate autonomy and guidance.
– ECONOMIC, SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
High energy efficiency building, without thermal bridges and high thermal inertia. Mobile sunscreens and ventilated roof.
Coexistence areas with double orientation to improve thermal comfort and south facades for energy capture in winter.
Comfortable and efficient air conditioning system using underfloor heating and air cooling with heat recovery. Heat pump with aerothermal dissipation and photovoltaic panels. Deck water will be collected for irrigation.
