CAP Palma de Cervelló
New Primary Health Center competition of La Palma de Cervelló
– ARCHITECTURAL PROPOSAL
The building is divided into two floors, taking advantage of the site’s topographic jump. Only the part of the program corresponding to the entrance area is located on the upper floor, occupying only the vertex of the plot, creating a new plaza at the same elevation as the main avenue from where access is generated. The side passage stairs are widened and a connection to the new plaza is created. A new ramp bridges the gap to the other street. The resulting public space is designed in a sober way and with universal accessibility criteria.
By having moved the program on the upper floor, a void is generated on the lower floor that is used to introduce a patio. The core of stairs is arranged as a separating element that divides the administrative and internal work program from the more public program: customer service, consultations and the group room. All the consulting rooms and those for internal work are located on the southwest façade to take advantage of the entry of light thanks to the slope of the street. The waiting rooms are located longitudinally, accompanying the consultations. The large patio located in the north corner, illuminates the waiting rooms and the community activity room that has direct access to the patio.
– CONSTRUCTION PROPOSAL
The proposal is formalized in two layers. The plinth is understood as a geographical accident that connects the 2 levels, a gap, which contains the semi-basement floor and the public space and materializes monolithic, stone and solid. This base is proposed in exposed concrete formwork “in situ”. On top of this plinth a light, wooden and transparent element of CLT wood panels and wooden pillars is placed. A uniform rhythm of vertical elements of this material is drawn on the façade, which surrounds the entire upper floor and exceeds the height of the building to hide the roof installations.
